Burt Watson has been babysitting stars in boxing and MMA for a long time. The former manager of boxing legend and Heavyweight Champion ‘Smoking’ Joe Frazier left his job with UFC to start Burt Watson Promotions.
Watson joined hosts Colin Crandall and Adam Roorda letting the guys know what he’s been up to recently. Including the fact that he started a podcast –basically by accident — after calling to check in on Vitor Belfort as a great friend does. As great friends do Watson and Belfort reminisced about old times, and viola a podcast was born. Tune into MMA POWER HOUR to find out who Watson has on deck for Episode 2
He spoke about his transition from managing and working with some of the best talent in boxing to the world of mixed martial arts. Watson talked about the vast progression of boxing skills in MMA during his time. One of the first things Watson noticed was how much more respectful the fighters in MMA are compared to boxing.
Colin asked Watson for his reaction to the possibility of Mike Tyson and Evander Holyfield fighting for a third time in an exhibition match: ” I don’t know how Mike Tyson could hit somebody un-competitively and hold his punch back and not try to knock somebodies head off.”
