Perennial UFC featherweight contender, Chan Sung Jung has voiced his displeasure at the fact that Australian powerhouse, Alexander ‘The Great’ Volkanovski remains the pack leader at 145-pounds, and has vowed to finish the reigning titleholder in a potential pairing.

Jung, who last featured at UFC Fight Night Busan in December in a short-notice meeting with Frankie Edgar, explained how he’d “finish” Volkanovski if ever paired with him – following the 31-year-old’s split decision championship retention against Max Holloway in the co-main event of UFC 251 on Saturday night.

Posting on his official Instagram account, Jung labelled Volkanovski “shameful” and insisted, judges would play no role in deciding the featherweight champion if he stood opposite the Eugene Bareman trainee.

I am responding to yesterday’s title match against (Alexander) Volkanovski and (Max) Holloway. To be honest, it is shameful that Volkanovski is a champion of my weight class. Give him to me then you don’t need to worry about the judge’s decision. As you know, I won’t let judges decide the result of my fight. I will finish him at the title match and that is what UFC fans want to watch.

After a five-round back-and-forth, Volkanovski retained his title, via a somewhat contentiously viewed, 48-47 (x2), and 47-48 split decision. Landing three successful takedowns, and scoring thirty-five more total strikes than Holloway – Volkanovski retained, with late first and second-round knockdowns for the Hawaiin drawing some controversy in the overall scoring.

Jung, who turned 33-years-old in March has long been tentatively planned to renew his battle with fellow one-time title challenger, Brian ‘T-City’ Ortega in coming months, after the Californian was forced from their original pairing at the aforenoted Busan event – suffering a knee injury.
