One-time UFC strawweight title challenger, Cláudia Gadelha will look to continue her stride back to division prominence, and a second title tilt – as she clashes with emerging force, Yan ‘Fury’ Xiaonan at a UFC event on September 26th.

Brazilian grappler, Gadelha most recently featured at UFC Fight Night Jacksonville in May, taking a close split decision triumph over former Invicta FC strawweight best, Angela ‘Overkill’ Hill. Chinese prospect, Xiaonan put on a clinic in her last outing – a unanimous decision victory over another one-time championship challenger, Karolina Kowalkiewicz back in February at UFC Fight Night Auckland. News of the high-stakes strawweight pairing was first penned by Combate reporter, Raphael Marinho.

Prior to her contentious judging win over Hill, Rio Grande do Notre native, Gadelha had managed a unanimous decision win over Randa Markos at UFC 239 last July. The victory marked the Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu black belt’s return to winning ways, following a judging loss to Nina Ansaroff the December prior. The 31-year-old has twice battled with longtime division gold-holder, Joanna Jȩdrzejczyk – going close to a victory in the initial pairing.

In common opponent, Kowalkiewicz, ‘Cláudinha’ also managed a decision win. The Nick Catone MMA trainee has managed other notable wins over inaugural UFC and Invicta FC strawweight titleholder, Carla Esparza, former WSOF strawweight best, Jessica Aguilar, as well as one-time title challenger, Vałérie Létourneau.

31-year-old striker, Xiaonan has been so far – promotional perfect. Since joining with the UFC back in November of 2017 – the Liaoning native has scored wins over Kailin Curran, Viviane Pereira, Syuri Kondo, and the aforementioned, Hill and Kowalkiewicz.

Following her victory over Poland’s, Kowalkiewicz – Xiaonan has managed to scoop the #10 rank at 115-pounds and looks to make a considerable leap toward her first title matchup in the promotion, with a standout win over #6 ranked challenger, Gadelha.
