UFC lightweight challenger, Diego Ferreira has blitzed his way through the division’s ranks as of late – and wants to continue his run of wins, as he issues a challenge to fellow contender, Paul ‘The Irish Dragon’ Felder, at a UFC ‘Fight Island’ event.

The Fortis MMA mainstay has scored six consecutive victories at 155-pounds – with just two Octagon defeats coming in the process. At UFC 246 in January, in the biggest statement performance of his career, Ferreira comfortably outclassed former WEC and UFC lightweight best, Anthony ‘Showtime’ Pettis before locking up a second-round rear-naked choke.

Taking to his official Twitter account, the 35-year-old called for a pairing with Felder, possibly on Fight Island this summer.

Let’s go @felderpaul this will be a crazy fight.. your back to training again you say #notretired let’s Go #fightisland @ufc

Roufusport trainee, Felder recently dropped a hugely-close split decision loss to Dan Hooker at UFC Fight Night Auckland in February – in a highly-entertaining back-and-forth. Afterwards, Felder juggled the idea of retirement.

The defeat to the hometown favourite snapped a two-fight win streak, which included a unanimous decision win over James Vick, before a split judging of his own in a rematch with recent featherweight debutante, Edson Barboza. In days following the defeat, the insightful colour-commentator explained how his matching with Hooker wouldn’t be his last Octagon appearance, however.
