Felice Herrig vs. Virna Jandiroba Targeted For UFC Event on August 15th.

Longtime UFC strawweight challenger, Felice ‘Lil Bulldog’ Herrig is expected to make her Octagon return on August 15th. – following extensive recovery from an ACL tear, as she clashes with former Invicta FC 115-pound titleholder, Virna ‘Carcara’ Jandiroba. A location or venue for the August 15th. event is yet to be confirmed by the organization.

Illinois native, Herrig would make her first Octagon outing since UFC 229 in October of 2018, where she dropped a unanimous decision to Michelle ‘The Karate Hottie’ Waterson over three rounds. In her first outing since December, Bahia-born contender, Jandiroba last featured opposite, Mallory Martin, taking a second-round rear-naked choke. News of the matching was first reported by ESPN reporter, Brett Okamoto.

Herrig was expected to feature at UFC 238 last June, taking on Xiaonan Yan, until the 35-year-old suffered a torn ACL in April during the run-up to the matchup, resulting in her pulling from the event. 

Herrig debuted in the promotion back in December of 2014, taking an armbar victory over Lisa Ellis. Apart from defeats to Paige VanZant, Karolina Kowalkiewicz, and the aforementioned, Waterson – the Team Curran trainee has scored notable triumphs over Alexa Grasso, Justine Kish, Cortney Casey, and Kailin Curran.

In her first outing under the UFC banner following her move from Invicta FC as strawweight best, Jandiroba dropped a unanimous decision to both inaugural UFC and Invicta FC strawweight champion, Carla ‘Cookie Monster’ Esparza. The defeat marked Jandiroba’s first in fifteen outings, with a rebound win coming against the above-noted, Martin. 

The Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu black belt also holds a win over common opponent, Ellis – before victories over the likes of Amy Montenegro, Mizuki Inoue, and Janaisa Morandin followed. Since her professional bow back in June of 2013, Jandiroba has secured twelve submission wins from fifteen career triumphs.
