A UFC middleweight rescheduled matchup between, Marvin Vettori, and Karl ‘Baby K’ Roberson has been pencilled in to feature at a UFC Fight Night event on June 13th. – with the card expected to take place at the UFC APEX facility in Las Vegas, Nevada.
Vettori and Roberson were scheduled to meet at UFC Fight Night Jacksonville on May 13th. – until the bout was shelved after Roberson tipped the scales at 187.5-pounds, and was admitted to a medical facility due to the effects of weight cutting – where he was diagnosed with rhabdomyolysis. The pair then exchanges verbals in the fighter hotel after the fiasco, with promotional security separating the two. News of the pairing was initially reported by MMA Fighting writers, Steven Marrocco and Damon Martin.
Vettori, who last featured at UFC Fight Night Tampa in October of last year, also seen his meeting with Darren ‘The Dentist’ Stewart at UFC Fight Night London in March scrapped, due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic. The 26-year-old has rebounded from a split decision loss to current middleweight champion, Israel Adesanya in April of 2018, taking a pair of decision wins of his own, over Cezar Mutante, and Andrew Sanchez. The former Venator FC welterweight champion scored other wins over Alberto Uda, and Vitor Miranda under the UFC banner, in between a loss to Antônio Carlos Júnior, and a majority draw to Omari Akhmedov.
New Jersey native, Roberson, is also riding a two-fight win streak in the promotion, following victories over Roman Kopylov, and Wellington Turman. In common opponent with Vettori – Roberson dropped a submission defeat to the aforementioned, Mutante. His second promotional blemish came against the resurgent, Glover Teixeira, in a light heavyweight bout. The 29-year-old has lodged notable victories over Ryan Spann, the previously noted, Stewart, and Jack Marshman since his Octagon bow, following a successful appearance on Dana White’s Tuesday Night Contenders Series in July of 2017,
The UFC Fight Night event is expected to take place on June 13th. – with the UFC APEX gym in Las Vegas, slated to play host. The following matchups are expected to feature.
