Former Invicta FC world champions, Michelle ‘The Karate Hottie’ Waterson, and Angela ‘Overkill’ Hill are set to meet at a UFC Fight Night event on August 22nd. – with a location and venue yet to officially announced by the organisation.
Waterson, a former atomweight titleholder, and Hill a one-time strawweight best – both featured at events in Jacksonville in May – with the former dropping a close decision loss to inaugural strawweight best, Carla Esparza. Hill dropped another narrow defeat to one-time title challenger, Cláudia Gadelha. News of the matching was initially reported by MMA Junkie reporters, Mike Bohn and Nolan King.
Waterson hopes to rebound from a two-fight slide for the second time under the UFC’s banner, following a prior defeat to former division queen, Joanna Jędrzejczyk back at UFC Fight Night Tampa last August. Approaching the tenth fight of her Octagon tenure, the Jackson-Wink MMA mainstay has notched notable triumphs over former title hopeful, Karolina Kowalkiewicz, as well as Cortney Casey, Felice Herrig, and Paige VanZant.
Fan-favourite, Hill saw her impressive, timely three fight-rise, halted at the hands of the above-noted, Gadelha. Ahead of her fourth fight of this year alone, Maryland native, Hill has picked up recent victories over Loma Lookboonmee, Hannah Cifers, and Ariane Carnelossi, and Jodie Esquibel. August’s walk will mark Hill’s eight since March of last year, a simply staggering rate of activity.
