With UFC 249 in the books, we had…well, a couple of days to catch our breath before the next event. However, t’s going to have to pull out ALL the stops to compete with what we just witnessed last Saturday night.

With Karl Roberson pulling out of his scheduled bout with Marvin Vettori, I’ve had to reassess the most interesting fights on the card. These three stood out to me.

#3 – Alex Hernandez vs. Drew Dober – Alexander Hernandez had some real steam behind him until his bout with veteran Donald Cerrone. Since that loss, he’s wrestled a decision win away from Francisco Trinaldo and is set to lock horns with Drew Dober at tonight’s event.

Dober is coming off of what is probably the biggest win of his thrity-fight career, in a 1st. round KO of the fast-rising Nasrat Haqparast. Interestingly enough, the last two losses in Dober’s career have come from the two men that Hernandez has beaten in the UFC.

#2 – Anthony Smith vs Glover Teixeira – Teixeira may feel better about this fight, considering Smith just won a lacklustre decision against a poorly trained home intruder. Then again, meth is a helluva a drug and Teixeira could be concerned about his own zombie fighting abilities, depending on the USADA stance against methamphetamines. This should be an excellent headliner.

#1 – Ben Rothwell vs Ovince Saint Preux – This is the most interesting fight on this card for me. I’m eager to see how OSP handles the jump up in weight. And it’s not like he was matched with a smaller heavyweight to see how he fares; he grabbed a behemoth of a man in Rothwell.

‘Big Ben’ carries that Viking genetic code, mixed with Michigan cheese curds. He’s enormous but moves rather well for his size and has some snazzy dance moves when he’s feeling himself. This is definitely one to watch. I have absolutely no idea what to expect.
