A flyweight matchup between division upstarts, Raulian Paiva, and Amir ‘The Prince’ Albazi is slated to feature at a UFC Fight Night event on October 31st. A location and venue for the card has yet to be determined by the promotion.
Currently riding a two-fight winning run, Brazilian prospect, Paiva managed to score a unanimous decision win over recent debutante, Zhalgas Zhumagulov at UFC 251 in July on ‘Fight Island’. Prior to the matchup, Paiva tipped the flyweight scales at 129-pounds, resulting in a catchweight contest.
Former Brave CF and Bellator feature, Albazi will attempt to continue his so far promotional perfect start. The Swedish submission specialist made his Octagon walk at a UFC Fight Night event in July, also on ‘Fight Island’. Scoring another submission triumph – Albazi locked up a first-frame triangle victory over Malcolm Gordan. News of the flyweight tie was initially penned by Combate reporter, Marcelo Barone.
A product of Dana White’s Contender Series, Amapá native, Paiva has amassed a 2-2 record under the UFC’s banner – following his split decision win over Allan Nascimento back in August 2018.
Initially faltering in his debut – Paiva dropped a split judging of his own opposite, Kai Kara-France, before fellow Brazilian contender, Rogério Bontorin scored a doctor’s stoppage win in the opening round. Prior to his aforementioned win over Zhumagulov, Paiva managed a second-round stoppage via strikes win over Mark De La Rosa back in February at UFC Fight Night Rio Rancho.
With a 13-1 professional record, 26-year-old London Shootfighters trainee, Albazi is also riding a two-fight winning run. Prior to his signature with the UFC – Albazi competed under the Brave CF banner, taking a submission win over Ryan ‘Chaos’ Curtis last November.
From thirteen professional triumphs, Albazi has notched six submission successes. Albazi’s one and only professional loss came opposite UFC alumnus, Jose ‘Shorty’ Torres, also under Brave CF scrutiny.
