A featherweight pairing between promotional-perfect contender, Arnold ‘Almighty’ Allen, and veteran striker, Jeremy ‘Lil’ Heathen’ Stephens has been booked for a UFC Fight Night Vegas event on November 7th. – with the UFC Apex facility in Las Vegas, Nevada expected to host the event.
Ipswitch native, Allen looks to score a whopping tenth consecutive victory, following a unanimous decision win over Nik Lentz at UFC Fight Night Raleigh in January. The victory marked Allen’s seventh straight UFC win.
Hoping to score his first win in six fights, veteran knockout-ace, Stephens last featured at UFC 249 in May – dropping a massive second-round knockout opposite surging contender, Calvin Kattar.
Stephens was briefly linked with a featherweight matchup opposite fellow former lightweight, Edson Barboza at UFC Fight Island 5 this weekend – but refused the pairing, citing a need for more time to successfully cut to the featherweight limit following a botched weigh-in attempt against Katar. News of the interesting featherweight tie was initially penned by MMA Junkie reporter, Nolan King.
Allen, 26, presents one of the brightest talents on the U.K. UFC scene at the moment, carrying an eye-catching 17-1 professional record into this clash with Stephens. His sole defeat – a unanimous decision loss to Marcin Wrzocek under the Cage Warriors banner back in June of 2014.
In notable Octagon wins, Allen has scored victories over the likes of Makwan Amirkhani, Mads Burnell, Jordan Rinaldi, and former Strikeforce lightweight best, Gilbert Melendez.
Stuck in the furthest thing from a purple patch like his opponent, Allen – Iowa native, Stephens has suffered other recent defeats to Yair Rodríguez, Zabit Magomedsharipov, and former featherweight titleholder, José Aldo.
A dangerous striker with power in both hands, Stephens has scored memorable knockout stoppages against the likes of Josh Emmett, Doo Ho Choi, Dennis Bermudez, Rony Jason, Marcus Davis, Justin Bucholz, and former lightweight best, Rafael dos Anjos.
