Report: Charles Oliveira vs. Beneil Dariush in The Works For UFC Event on October 3rd.

A mouth-watering lightweight matchup between streaking grappling talents, Charles ‘Do Bronx’ Oliveira, and Beneil Dariush is currently targeted to feature at a UFC Fight Night event on October 3rd. – with a location or venue yet to be determined by the promotion.

The promotion’s most prolific submission threat, Oliveira – recently added to his now incredible seven-fight undefeated run at lightweight on home soil in Brasília in March – taking a third-round guillotine victory over one-time interim title challenger, Kevin Lee. 


Kings MMA mainstay, Dariush will make a timely turnaround, following his fifth consecutive Octagon triumph – coming last weekend at UFC Fight Night Vegas in a stunning spinning-back fist finish of Scott Holtzman. News of the targeted meeting between the grappling aces was initially reported by AgFight reporter, Neri Fung.

With a staggering nineteen separate submission wins – fourteen of which have come under the UFC’s banner – 3rd. degree Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu black belt, Oliveira presents the most successful grappling force on the organization’s books today.

The 30-year-old São Paulo native has bested his last seven opponents, adding the aforenoted, Lee – to a winning streak which includes 155-pound victories over Jared Gordan, Nik Lentz, David Teymur, Jim Miller, Christos Giagos, and Clay Guida. The ten-year Octagon veteran currently sits at #6 in the official lightweight pile and seems to have finally found his groove in the promotion.

Iranian born Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu black belt, Dariush – like Oliveira, is revered as one of the most seasoned grappling talents to make the transition to the Octagon. The three-time No-Gi Jiu-Jitsu World Champion has notched eight submission victories, including stoppages of Frank Camacho, Drew Dober, Daron Cruickshank, Anthony Rocco Martin, and Charlie Brenneman.

As part of his aforenoted winning streak, the Rafael Cordeiro trainee added Holtzman, Drakkar Klose, fellow grappler, Thiago Moisés – to previously mentioned wins over Dober, and Camacho. Last weekend’s stoppage of Holtzman was enough to earn Dariush the #14 rank at 155-pounds – following a botched weight cut which resulted in a 158-pound step to the scales.
