Report: Julia Avila vs. Sijara Eubanks Set For UFC Vegas 10 on September 12th.

Talk about a turn of events. Originally scheduled to meet with inaugural flyweight titleholder, Nicco Montaño, until a positive COVID-19 test result prevented that rematch – surging contender, Julia ‘Raging Panda’ Avila will now throw down with Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu ace, Sijara ‘Sarj’ Eubanks on September 12th.

Massachusetts veteran, Eubanks was initially slated to meet with promotional perfect, Karol Rosa this weekend – until the latter was forced to withdraw from the bout after she was hospitalised due to the effects of weight-cutting. With multiple pairings between Rosa and Avila cancelled prior to this event, and now Eubanks left opponent-less – Avila now tackles Eubanks next weekend instead.

2-0 in the UFC since her transition from Invicta FC – Los Angeles finisher, Avila made quick work of the returning Gina Mazany in her last Octagon appearance at UFC Fight Night Vegas in May – scoring a knockout win in just twenty-two seconds.

Finding herself back in the win column, 35-year-old grappler, Eubanks secured a unanimous decision win over Sarah ‘Cheesecake’ Moras at a UFC Fight Night Jacksonville event in May. Avila will mark the third opponent Eubanks has been drawn opposite since that win, with TUF victor, Macy Chiasson also forced from a bout with the former. News of the reworked tie was first reported by MMA Fighting reporters, Mike Heck and Guilherme Cruz.

Prior to her second outing under the UFC’s banner, Avila scored an eye-catching win over The Ultimate Fighter finalist, Pannie ‘Banzai’ Kianzad in a unanimous judging triumph at UFC 239 in July of last year. The triumph over the Swede marked three consecutive wins for 32-year-old Oklahoma City-based, Avila.

Another former Invicta FC feature, Eubanks – has so far amassed a 3-2 promotional record following her journey to the semi-finals of The Ultimate Fighter 26 back in 2017.

In the UFC, Eubanks has scored wins over former Invicta FC bantamweight best, ‘Lucky’ Lauren Murphy, as well as veteran fan-favourite, Roxanne ‘The Happy Warrior’ Modafferi. Tipping the flyweight scales against the latter, Eubanks returned to bantamweight where she’s dropped results to both Aspen Ladd, and Bethe Correia – prior to her aforenoted win over, Moras.
