Report: Leon Edwards vs. Khamzat Chimaev Booked For UFC Vegas 15 on December 19th.

Back in the official welterweight rankings, and back to active competition – perennial division contender, Leon ‘Rocky’ Edwards is pencilled in to main event UFC Vegas 15 on December 19th. as he tackles streaking fan-favourite, Khamzat ‘Borz’ Chimaev – in a title-eliminator, potentially for both.

Controversially removed from the official welterweight pile yesterday due to inactivity, Edwards was momentarily replaced at #3 by recent title challenger and arch-rival, Jorge ‘Gamebred’ Masvidal, but now fifteen months removed from his UFC Fight Night San Antonio unanimous decision win over former lightweight best, Rafael dos Anjos – the Birmingham-based contender is officially booked again.

For Chechen-born finisher, Chimaev – the undefeated star has scored three Octagon victories since his promotional bow in just July of this year. Last featuring at UFC Vegas 11 in September, Chimae scored a stunning seventeen-second knockout win over grappling threat, Gerald Meerschaert. With his last professional loss coming back in December 2015 at UFC Fight Night Orlando opposite current welterweight kingpin, Kamaru ‘The Nigerian Nightmare’ Usman – Edwards has scored a whopping eight straight successes since.

The Team Renagade BJJ & MMA trainee has dispatched the likes of Albert Tumenov and Vicente Luque of note during his initial rise, prior to notable victories over future Hall of Fame inductee, Donald Cerrone, and Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu ace, Gunnar Nelson.

AllStars mainstay, Chimaev has captivated the mixed martial arts community the world over just four-months into his UFC stint. Debuting on UFC Fight Island in July, the Sweden based prospect scored a dominant second-round win over John Phillips, before stopping then debutante, former Cage Warriors contender, Rhys McKee inside the opening-round, just ten days later.
