Arizona born submission ace, Dern has won her last two consecutively – scoring an eye-catching first-round armbar win over division mainstay, Randa ‘Quiet Storm’ Markos at UFC Vegas 11 in September. The victory marked Dern’s second of the year.
Bahia born grappler, Jandiroba has also won her last two in a row, also taking a first-round armbar victory in her last showing – when paired with Felice ‘Lil’ Bulldog’ Herrig at UFC 252 in August. News of the targeted matchup was initially reported by MMA Fighting reporter, Guilherme Cruz.
Dern, a three-time world champion in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu holds an 8-1 professional résumé. The 27-year-old Phoenix native added the above noted, Markos to a prior kneebar victory over Hannah Cifers on short-notice at UFC Vegas 1 at the end of May this year.
In her sole professional defeat, Dern dropped a unanimous decision loss to fellow standout, Amanda Ribas at UFC Fight Night Tampa in August of last year – in her first matching following the birth of her daughter.
Jandiroba, 32 has also only suffered one professional blemish. The renowned finisher dropped a unanimous decision loss to inaugural Invicta FC and UFC strawweight best, Carla ‘Cookie Monster’ Esparza in her promotional debut at UFC Fight Night Sunrise in April of last year.
With a staggering thirteen submission wins from sixteen total victories – Jandiroba got off the mark in the promotion with a rear-naked choke win over Mallory Martin before her above-mentioned stoppage of Herrig. Jandiroba won the Invicta FC strawweight crown with a split decision win over promotion stablemate, Mizuki Inoue back in March of 2018.
