For Guadalajara native, Grasso, the 27-year-old recently made her 125-pound promotional debut at UFC Vegas 8 in August, taking home a unanimous decision win over Ji Yeon Kim.

Grasso was scheduled to share the aforenoted January card with Barber in a matchup with one-time title challenger, Cláudia Gadelha, however, the pairing was shelved after Grasso had tipped the strawweight scales at 121.5-pounds. News of the flyweight tie was initially reported by Milenio reporter, Carlos Contreras Legaspi.

Roufusport trainee, Barber had scored an eye-catching three-fight rise in the UFC following her arrival from Dana White’s Contender Series back in July of 2018.

The talented striking prospect earned her Octagon deal with a third-round knockout win over Jamie Collen, before scoring UFC victories over Hannah Cifers, JJ Aldrich, and Gillian Robertson.

A seven-fight Octagon veteran, Grasso is also a former Invicta FC feature, scoring an undefeated 8-0 record before her move to the UFC.

Establishing a 12-3 résumé since, Grasso has dropped losses to Felice Herrig, surging strawweight contender, Tatiana Suarez, and inaugural champion, Carla Esparza. In promotional wins, the Lobo Gym staple has bested Heather Jo Clark, Randa Markos, one-time title chaser, Karolina Kowalkiewicz, and the above mentioned, Kim.
