Riding a three-fight rise at welterweight, grappling ace, Chiesa last featured at UFC Fight Night Raleigh in January, taking home a unanimous decision victory over former lightweight titleholder, Rafael dos Anjos.
Replacing recent UFC Vegas 17 headliner, Geoff ‘Handz of Steel’ Neal at UFC Vegas 8 in August, longtime 170-pound feature, Magny took on former champion, ‘Ruthless’ Robbie Lawler — extending his winning-spree to three-fight as well with a unanimous judging triumph. Prior to his three-round judging win over dos Anjos, Chiesa dispatched one-time 155-pound title challenger, Diego ‘The Nightmare’ Sanchez, and former interim welterweight gold holder, ‘The Natural Born Killer’ Carlos Condit.
With a 17-4 professional record, Washington native, Chiesa has managed to score a stunning eleven separate submission wins — including prior stoppages of fellow grappling talents, Beneil Dariush and Jim Miller.
Making his Octagon return for the first time in two-years — Elevation Fight Team mainstay, Magny had gone 3-0 over the course of this annum. Adding the above mentioned former champion, Lawler, to two other wins, Magny bested both Anthony Rocco Martin and Li Jingliang.
