Straight Blast Gym Ireland mainstay, Peter ‘The Showstopper’ Queally has been forced to withdraw from his scheduled headliner with Patricky ‘Pitbull’ Freire on October 3rd. – after he suffered a broken right hand in preparation for his main event clash with the veteran Brazilian.

Queally, who trains out of SBG Ireland and helps run their Naas branch in Co. Kildare – was forced out of a Bellator Dublin event in February this year – after he suffered a torn LCL, ahead of a high-stakes pairing with former lightweight champion, Brent Primus.

The Waterford native, made his most recent appearance under the Scott Coker led promotion’s banner in the capital last September – rallying after a knockdown to finish Sunderland prospect, Ryan ‘Big Baby’ Scope. The victory marked the 31-year-old’s first in the organization, following a close decision loss to former SBG mainstay, Myles ‘Splinter’ Price – in his premier outing since his transition from Fight Nights Global.

Taking to his official Instagram on Thursday night, Queally detailed his injury – following a check-up after a recent surgical procedure.

First check-up after surgery. It was an extremely bad break that took a prolonged and very complicated operation to piece back together. I have a long, tough recovery ahead, but life is tough and we do it tough, so no problem there. Good luck in your next one @patrickypitbull, I’ll see you next year and we can settle this with the best crowd in the world watching like this fight deserves. God only knows why, but I guarantee I will somehow come out the other side of this levelled up like I have after every major injury I’ve had in my career.

In a matchup fuelling the recent ‘Pitbull’ brothers versus Straight Blast Gym rivalry – Queally’s teammate, Pedro Carvalho was scheduled to tackle Patrício ‘Pitbull’ for the undisputed featherweight championship in March, with that pairing also falling to the wayside amid the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.

For Patricky ‘Pitbull’ – the 34-year-old Rio Grande do Notre native was hoping to rebound from his RIZIN lightweight grand prix final defeat to Tofiq Musayev at RIZIN 20 on New Year’s Eve last.

The defeat marked Freire’s first in seven outings, which included eye-catching triumphs over former world champions, Josh Tompson, Benson Henderson, Tatsuya Kawajiri, and Roger Huerta.
