Report: Shogun Rua vs. Paul Craig II Slated For UFC 255 on November 21st.

A light heavyweight rematch between veteran Brazilian icon, Maurício ‘Shogun’ Rua, and Scottish submission talent, Paul ‘Bearjew’ Craig has been added to UFC 255 on November 21st. – with a location and venue yet to be disclosed by the organization.

Rua and Craig initially met at UFC Fight Night São Paulo in November last, battling to a split decision draw over their three-round co-headliner.


Former PRIDE FC middleweight and UFC light heavyweight best, Shogun – will make his second Octagon appearance of the year, following his trilogy match with ‘Minotouro’ Nogueira at a UFC Fight Night event on ‘Fight Island’ in July. With his split decision win over the retiring, ‘Lil Nog’ – Rua improved his undefeated run to three-fights.

Also featuring at a ‘Fight Island’ event last month – Airdrie native, Craig managed yet another submission win, scoring an opening-round triangle victory over Gadzhimurad Antigulov. ESPN reporter, Ariel Helwani was first to report the news of the 205-pound re-run.

One of the most recognisable talents in the history of the sport, thirty-nine fight veteran, Rua will make his twenty-first Octagon appearance, following his transition from the now-defunct PRIDE FC back in 2007.

Reaching the UFC summit, the 38-year-old Curitiba striker claimed the undisputed light heavyweight throne in a first-round rematch knockout win over compatriot, Lyoto ‘The Dragon’ Machida. In other highlight career triumphs, Rua has bested the likes of Akihiro Gono, ‘Rampage’ Jackson, Alistair Overeem (x2), Ricardo Arona, Kevin Randleman, Mark Coleman, Chuck Liddell, Forest Griffin, and Corey Anderson to name a few.

Eighteen fight professional veteran, Craig has managed to ink a 13-4 professional résumé – stopping twelve of those thirteen wins via submission within the distance. Craig made the move to the UFC following a light heavyweight championship success under the BAMMA banner.

Currently sitting at 4-4-1 under the promotion’s banner, the 32-year-old Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu brown belt originally served as a short-notice replacement for Sam Alvey last November, beginning his back-and-forth with Rua.

The Scottish Hit Squad mainstay has scored notable Octagon wins over names such as Henrique da Silva, Magomed Ankalaev, Kennedy Nzechukwu, Vinicius Moreira, and the previously noted, Antigulov.
