Karl Roberson has been forced to withdraw from tonight’s fight with Marvin Vettori on the main card of UFC Fight Night 171: Smith vs. Teixeira. Having missed weight yesterday, tipping the scales at 187.5-pounds, the fighter became ill this morning and decided to step out of the scheduled match up.
Roberson is riding a two-fight win streak, with victories over Wellington Turman and Roman Kopylov.
This leaves Marvin Vettori without an opponent. Coming off two decision victories in 2019 over Cezar Ferreira and Andrew Sanchez, Vettori was looking to add to his streak.
Kevin Holland, who is scheduled to fight Anthony Hernandez on Saturday night, volunteered to take the fight on same-day notice, as well as fight his original opponent on Saturday. While it’s unlikely, Holland continues to show that he’ll fight anyone, anywhere.
“Cerrone woulda did it” – Kevin Holland.
