A high-stakes bantamweight matchup between division prospects, ‘Sugar’ Sean O’Malley, and Marlon ‘Chito’ Vera is set to feature at UFC 252 on August 15th. – with the event expected to take place in Las Vegas, Nevada.
Fresh from a stunning first-round knockout win over former WEC bantamweight titleholder, Eddie Wineland at UFC 250 in June – streaking fan-favourite will make a quick turnaround for the August showcase. Competing at UFC Fight Night Jacksonville in May – Ecuadorian all-rounder, Vera dropped his first defeat in five outings, in a contentious decision loss to Song Yadong.
Popular Dana White’s Tuesday Night Contenders Series product, O’Malley has so far scored a 4-0 promotional perfect record. The 25-year-old Montana native is set to make his third Octagon appearance of 2020 alone, following an earlier first-frame finish of Jose Alberto Quiñónez at UFC 248 in March. In other wins in the organization, O’Malley managed wins over Andre Soukhamthath, and Terrion Ware.
Team Oyama mainstay, Vera had embarked on an eye-catching five-fight run before his aforenoted loss to Yadong in a close back-and-forth meeting. Prior to the blemish, the 27-year-old had picked up finishes of Nohelin Hernandez, Andre Ewell, Wuliji Buran, Frankie Saenz, and Guido Cannetti. From fifteen professional victories, Vera has secured twelve finishes.
