An eye-catching heavyweight pairing between division upstarts, Tom Aspinall, and Sergey ‘The Polar Bear’ Spivak has been booked for a UFC Fight Night event on October 10th. – with a location and venue for the event yet to be determined by the organization.
Former Cage Warriors talent, Aspinall recently made his Octagon debut on ‘Fight Island’ at a UFC Fight Night event, debuting with a massive opening-round knockout over division mover, Jake Collier. With the victory, the Team Kaobon Liverpool mainstay improved to 8-2 as a professional.
Moldovan knockout and submission threat, Spivak returned to the win column in his fourth Octagon appearance – scoring a majority decision win over Carlos Felipe also on a ‘Fight Island’ card. News of the heavyweight clash was initially reported by the Daily Express reporter, Chisanga Malata.
Following a string of two wins under the Cage Warriors banner, Wigan native, Aspinall penned a multi-fight deal to join a long list of prior talent from the promotion, to link up with the UFC. Aspinall, a punishing striker, followed up his knockout over, Mickael Ben Hamouda – with his aforenoted win over Collier.
Spivak, a former WWFC heavyweight titleholder, has managed a 2-2 promotional résumé since his first appearance back at UFC Fight Night Ottawa in May of last year. The 25-year-old debuted with a knockout loss to Walt Harris, before rebounding opposite shoey enthusiast, Tai Tuivasa with an eye-catching arm-triangle submission. Prior to his win over Brazilian prospect, Felipe, Spivak blemished against former M-1 Global heavyweight gold holder, Marcin Tybura in a unanimous judging loss.
