UFC APEX will once again host an event without a crowd as we phase back into opening the country back up as the COVID-19 pandemic reaches its fourth month. Another bright spot during trying times, this Saturday night in Las Vegas, the UFC returns with a momentous PPV –UFC 250 — headlined by a women’s championship fight.
Amanda Nunes (19-4) the No. 1 ranked women’s pound-for-pound fighter defends her featherweight title against former Invicta FC champion Felicia Spencer (8-1) in the five-round main event.
In the co-main event, No. 5 ranked Raphael Assuncao (27-7) takes on No. 9 ranked (Former Champion) Cody Garbrandt (11-3) in a bantamweight fight. Two of the best 135 pounders on the planet looking for another title shot, this fight should be action-packed.
In a featured bout, No. 2 ranked Aljamain Sterling (18-3) squares off against No. 4 ranked Cody Sandhagen (12-1) in another bantamweight fight. If the winner of Assuncao vs. Garbrandt wants a shot at the title, they will most likely have to face the winner of this fight to earn it.
Brian Kelleher (21-10) is back for the second time in three weeks after picking up a spectacular second-round knockout against Hunter Azure at UFC Fight Night: Smith vs. Teixeira. Kelleher once again called out ‘Sugar’ Sean O’Malley during his post-fight interview. Saturday night, he will instead fight No. 12 ranked Cody Stamann (18-2-1), whose only recent loss came at the hands of Sterling. Catch this preliminary bout for free on ESPN.
Speaking of O’Malley (11-0), he will kick start the main card with a fight against former WEC Bantamweight Champion, Eddie Wineland (24-13-1). This will be the undefeated fighter’s toughest test to date, as O’Malley looks to climb into the rankings with a victory Saturday night.
Catch all the action — including a welterweight bout between Neil Magny (22-8) vs. Anthony Rocco Martin (17-5), along with the return of Evan Dunham (18-7-1) taking on Herbert Burns (10-2), the younger brother of welterweight challenger Gilbert Burns –on ESPN, and ESPN+ for the PPV portion.
