An ongoing theme for the early portion of the UFC Jacksonville fight card came by way of a flood of notable contender series alumnus. In multiple cases, two contract recipients from the summer installment were pitted against one another. That was the case in a middleweight showcase of up-and-coming prospects, Kevin Holland and Anthony Hernandez. Their paths to get to this moment, vastly different in their own rights. But the path towards the top of the middleweight division, certainly begins with a desired result, tonight.
Holland came straight across the octagon, immediately, to impose his will on the former LFA titleholder Hernandez. Holland was all guns blazing out of the gate, mixing his kicks and punches with a solid blend on the feet, with knees and short shots coming on the tail end.
Before the fans at home could sit back and dial in to the fight, Holland landed a thunderous knee to the midsection of Hernandez, and a short hook that connected right behind it. Slowly, but surely, Hernandez withered to the canvas from the devastating knee to the body Holland had just delivered. A small handful of follow-up shots rain down from Holland, and that was that following just over a minute and a half elapsing off the clock. Kevin Holland’s most emphatic win of his career to date, and his quickest since 2017.
